Thank you everyone for a great day in Norvin Green State Forest. The hike was a success (marked by limited injuries and no one being left behind!). Overall, depending upon whose GPS was used, we clocked 8-10 miles. Personally, it felt a bit closer to 8 than 10 but in the end it is the journey that matters, not the metrics, though the hills did add up to 1,500 ft of elevation gain let's pat ourselves on the back.
A couple of highlights come to mind
Sandy's trail mix, whoo hoo!
Sheila and Stacey easily traversing the scramble while Hani and I scratched our heads thinking there must be an easier way
For the first time in a while, we didn't even get a little lost (bummer)
The lead group finding a rather large black snake
And of course Gibbs the trailblazer.
Below is a video of our route and a few photo highlights. Linked on the right is a more complete album as well. Thank you to Darlene, Stacey, Gaya, and Barbara for submitting photo's! If more are submitted I'll add them to the album as well.

Great first hike of 2020 - good trail, great weather, superb people. Thanks everyone for joining us! The good news - I clocked 5.2 miles with 1,130 feet of elevation gain. The bad news - my net calories by the afternoon was a gain of 200 after that lunch at the Sycamore Grille. Also of note this the first hike that came in with few miles than expected, we're getting better at this. The photo album is linked to the right and please contribute if you can. Or if easier you can send me directly as well. "The Cliff Trail offers some of the most spectacular overlook views in the recreation area of the serpentine Delaware River valley from atop the Raymondskill Ridge. This view was so inspiring to early film makers that several westerns were filmed using this magnificent scenery as stand-ins for the landscapes out west. Early 1900s actors Tom Mix, Walter Miller and Mary Pickford are just some of the stars who once stood on these vary cliffs." .... The National Park Service Time has gotten away from us this Autumn, but we're hoping for some good weather for what very well be the last hike of 2017. On November 18, we'll head to Milford, PA to hike Cliff Park. Cliff Park has an excellent effort to reward ratio with one large hill and then almost constant views of the cliffs overlooking the Delaware River. Also within walking distance of the parking area is the largest waterfall in Pennsylvania, Raymondskill Falls (not to mention a lovely pond and Hackers Falls as we...
